Children are able to deal with their trauma when they feel heard and supported. The same goes for parents.

In parenting there are no instructions. Every parent has times where they doubt their abilities. When you are a parent with a child with attachment and trauma concerns, the difficulties can often become your focus.

Too many families dealing with trauma struggle, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Because the truth is, parenting a child who has experienced trauma is not the same as traditional parenting.

I know you’ve been through a lot in helping your child. You’ve spent time searching for solutions — something to help you make sense of how to meet your child’s needs and manage their behaviors. In doing so, you may have been met with judgment by those who lack understanding of your situation and why you parent they way you do.

In choosing to work with me, you won’t find yet another person who doesn’t get it.

As a licensed therapist with a Masters degree in Social Work, I provide parent support services to help you address your child’s trauma and attachment concerns.

What is Parent Support?

Parent support is not the same as therapy. The parent support process is designed to help you manage the difficulties that can come with caring for a child who has experienced trauma and attachment concerns.

When you seek parent support, we’ll work together to create a plan so your family can move forward.  This will include:

  • Understanding the ways your child’s past is affecting them currently and
  • Identifying the reasons behind the behaviors that are impacting your family’s ability to function in a healthy way

To help your child in the best way possible, you will learn practical and effective techniques so that you feel inspired, capable, and confident in your parenting relationship.

With parent support you will:

  • Access the resources you need to understand trauma and attachment issues from a brain-based perspective in order to respond rather than react
  • Learn to become more connected to your child (even if your child attempts to push you away and avoid connection)
  • See beyond surface level behaviors and implement parenting strategies that get at the root of the concern
  • Gain confidence in your ability to meet your child’s needs without feeling stressed or overwhelmed
  • Enjoy the present moment without constant worry about the next behavioral problem
  • Live with renewed hope knowing that you have the skills and strategies to handle any challenge that your family faces

Parent support can be provided online. It is accessible no matter where you live. Sessions are organized around your schedule which affords you the freedom to be available for your family, but still be able to seek the support you need from a qualified professional.

When you schedule a free initial consultation, we will discuss your unique family structure and the individual struggles you are facing. From there, we will outline an approach to parent support that meets your needs.
