About Alyssa Caldbeck, LISW, RPT
Hi, I’m Alyssa.
I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Certified EMDR Therapist, and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). I know that healing from trauma and attachment concerns can occur through relationships and an understanding of the brain-body connection. In my experience, traditional strategies and behavioral approaches to treating trauma and attachment concerns do not lead to lasting results.
My passion is to support parents and professionals involved in the lives of children and families to successfully navigate the difficulties that exist when overcoming a child’s past. I am dedicated to helping parents and professionals handle the stressors that come with the process of trauma work. It is my mission to help adults see beyond the behaviors of a child and to respond rather than react. When this is happens, hope and connection can be brought back into the relationship. In taking a brain based-relational approach, we can come together to successfully overcome negative life experiences. You can read more about my training and specialties below.
Alyssa Caldbeck, LISW, RPT, EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist
After completing my Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and my Masters in Social Work at University of Iowa, I went on to work in a variety of agency settings where I honed my specialized skills working with children who had experienced complex trauma. My therapy services are focused primarily on attachment, trauma, and adoption concerns. My qualifications include being a Registered Play Therapist, Certified EMDR Therapist, and completion of an adoption-specific mental health training (Training for Adoption Competency) provided by the Center for Adoption Support & Education. Much of my play therapy training has focused on the use of sand tray.
I have advanced training in EMDR approaches for attachment and trauma concerns and I am an Integrative Attachment Treatment Protocol Certified Therapist through the Attachment and Trauma Center of Nebraska.
In addition to my role as a therapist, I am also a trainer and speaker. I also provide support to parents who are parenting children with attachment, trauma, and adoption concerns as well as parents of children with special needs.
I feel passionate about teaching other therapists to effectively treat trauma and attachment issues. I provide consultation and training opportunities to trauma therapists, specifically those incorporating EMDR & play therapy approaches including sand tray. I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant trained under Ana Gomez, MC, LPC.
Both my work with parents and therapists is rooted in a brain-body based approaches incorporating sensory strategies and an understanding of neurobiology.
