Helping children heal from trauma and attachment concerns is a journey.

Helping a child heal from trauma can be a trying and confusing time. Parents and professionals often find themselves feeling stuck and hopeless. When progress is made, it can quickly be derailed or halted by the return of old behaviors or new strategies from the child attempting to get their needs met. Many well-intentioned adults struggle to remain calm in the midst of all this chaos and clue-in to the “why” behind a child’s actions. Years can pass and all the effort may seem to be for nothing.

But here’s the thing…

Trauma plays a significant role in your child’s development.

When a child experiences negative life events, the way they act, learn, and see the world changes. Early childhood wounds prevent children from interacting in appropriate ways with others. If not addressed properly, traumatic experiences can have a lifelong impact.

Overcoming trauma is possible.

Children who have experienced trauma — especially early developmental or attachment trauma — are not always understood, simply because the impact of early trauma is not taken into consideration. The repair work of early trauma — and trauma concerns in general — requires a whole child, whole life approach. Support and interventions must be implemented in a way that considers the organization of the brain itself when addressing how to get at the root of the issue.
